Microalgae Culture Collection
of the Institute of Hydrobiology of the NAS of Ukraine
The collection includes 39 strains of algae belonging to 31 species (23 genera). The species and strains of microalgae present in the collection belong to 4 divisions (Cyanoprokaryota, Chlorophyta, Euglenophyta, Rhodophyta), 5 classes (Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Porphyridiophyceae), 9 orders (Nostocales, Chroococcales, Synechococcales, Oscillatoriales, Sphaeropleales, Chlamydomonadales, Chlorellales, Euglenales, Porphyridiales), 14 families and 23 genera.
Of the microalgae in the collection, 17 species (24 strains) belong to the division Cyanoprokaryota, 12 species (13 strains) to Chlorophyta, and 1 species (1 strain) each to Euglenophyta and Rhodophyta.
The collection's holdings can be used by specialists in the fields of hydroecology, algal physiology and biochemistry, and biotechnology.
